CBD & Supplements: What We Know for Sure

Supplements, powders, and pills on a table

Yes, you eat well. Except for the chocolate chip muffin you had this morning (but we don’t need to get into that.) Of course you work out (you beat your personal best on that mile last week). Maybe you meditate. Mountain climb. Tango. Whatever it is, it’s all in the name of you and your vibe. In finding what makes you feel good. Better. Your best. Maybe in addition to what you’re already doing to support your beautiful mind and body, you have a little question:

What if there was an easy way I could be doing a little bit more?

Then you hear a little whisper in your ear: “Supplementsss.” It starts as a quiet little buzzword that won’t go away. Or maybe it’s less of a whisper and more of a LOUD FLASHING AD for the latest drops that claim to strengthen your immune system, or your aunt who swears she’s never had better digestion since starting her daily green powder. With all the noise, it can be hard to ascertain just what a supplement even is, let alone what we can expect it to do

Dietary supplements are substances you might use to add nutrients to your diet or to lower your risk of health problems (NIA.GOV). Supplements are not intended to treat, diagnose, prevent, or cure diseases. That means supplements should not make claims, such as “reduces pain” or “treats heart disease.” Claims like these can only legitimately be made for drugs, not dietary supplements. (FDA).

Catch that? Supplements aren’t meant to heal, they’re here to help. Intrigued? Let’s dig in a little more.

Typically, your body absorbs less than 30% of your daily supplements and the rest is lost through digestion. The delivery system can interfere with its effectiveness, threatening to cast aside your good intentions of taking it in the first place. It’s kind of like when you buy a kid a toy and all they want to do is play with the box that it came in. Sure kid, cool box. But they seem to be missing the point.

CBD in particular is used as a supplement because of its ability to support mood, balance and wellness. There are many ways to deliver it to your system to experience its benefits. Vegan gel caps (or capsules) with nanotechnology (like ours) ensure 70% more absorption and 5x faster delivery of CBD oil to the body’s natural systems, all without THC. Not only do the purity of ingredients matter, but the way they absorb into your body matters too.

So when is comes to supplements we know a few things for sure:

  1. Your friendly neighborhood FDA is pretty up front that you shouldn’t believe any big claims that some brands make.
  1. The form that a supplement takes (such as a capsule, powder or drops) can influence how effective it is in your system.
  1. Much of the tangible evidence of their benefits rests in the hands of real people who have shared their experience and personal results while taking it. Reviews and word of mouth are hugely beneficial for finding the right supplement for you.

Maybe with a CBD oil capsule one person unlocks the benefits of diet and stress support. Someone else feels improved sleep and less anxiety. Another swears by its immunity and digestion relief. Someone else just feels better and can’t explain it.

Therein lies the beauty of taking a supplement: we are all different, with unique lifestyles, diets, and routines of self care. Everyone’s supplement solution should be an individualized experience—and the results will be unique to each person too.
